Innovation funding announced for Security of IoT

£2 million made available in new competition aimed at targeting challenges around IoT security.

Innovate UK has announced a competition aimed at addressing IoT security challenges.

A total of £2 million pounds will be made available over two phases.  The funding for the competition is being made available by the Centre for Defence Enterprise on behalf of the UK's intelligence agencies.

Proposals need to show how data can be pullled together from a diverse range of environments operating across different protocols and standards, and show how two events/users/devices connect based on the data gathered.

techUK's Rob McNamara commented: "The IoT represents a great opportunity for consumers and UK Plc but for it to be a success it must be secure.  This funding opportunity represents another chance for tech companies to help the UK government better understand how to make a secure IoT a reality.  I'd encourage techUK member companies with an interest in this area to submit a proposal."
