Launching an information assurance e-learning course for SMEs

We are pleased to launch a free Responsible for Information course for micro, small and medium sized (SME) enterprises today.

As part of the National Cyber Security Programme, we have been delivering workshops and training on information assurance and cyber security to the public sector. Now we have opened this out to the private sector to raise awareness of staff, managers and senior directors who are responsible for essential information.

Tailored modules

The course helps employees and business owners to understand information security and associated risks. It provides good practice examples as well as an introduction to protection against fraud and cyber-crime.

This course consists of three modules tailored to different roles:

  • General user
  • Information Asset Owner
  • Information Risk Owners, directors and business owners

Broadening access

Clem Brohier, Director of Finance and SIRO at The National Archives said: 'I am extremely pleased that we are able to launch this course for SMEs, the take-up of the course from the public sector has been huge with over 200,000 civil servants taking the course this year alone.

'The information private sector holds is extremely important to the economic development of the UK, this information must be protected, managed and used effectively in order to promote the UK as a global leader in effective information management. This free course will help give the SME community the tools they need to make the most of what they have.'
