Out-of-work benefits claims in Wales fall by 9,500

Stephen Crabb: "Moving people from welfare to work is part of our plan to build a stronger economy."

Figures published yesterday (12 November) show a fall in numbers on out-of-work benefits in Wales.

The latest figures show that the number of people claiming out-of-work benefits in Wales has fallen by 9,500 over the last 3 months and 18,300 over the past year.

Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb said:

Moving people from welfare to work is part of our plan to build a stronger economy and change the lives of hardworking people in Wales.

I am delighted that we are seeing real change within communities, where many more children growing up in Wales are seeing a mum or a dad go out to work.
