Households can discover how water companies are spending their hard-earned cash when the Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) meets in Manchester on Thursday, April 20.

Water companies from across the North of England will be challenged to provide updates on their progress in delivering the commitments they made to consumers to improve the environment and ensure there are reliable water and sewerage services.

Representatives from United Utilities, Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water and Hartlepool Water will all give presentations during the meeting in public at the Town Hall in Manchester.

There will also be an opportunity for consumers to put their questions or concerns directly to the companies and members of CCWater’s Northern Committee.

Andy White, Senior Policy Manager at CCWater, said: “It’s easy to take our water and sewerage services for granted but they rely on sustained investment. That comes at a cost to customers so we’re inviting water companies to show exactly how they are delivering better services that are also value for money.”

The Environment Agency will join the meeting to explain how it expects water companies to play their part in protecting and improving the environment in the future across the region.

The meeting starts at 10.30am in the Town Hall’s Committee Room 1. Anyone wishing to attend should register by emailing farah.hasson@ccwater.org.uk
