Governance Conference aims for impact
After listening to what delegates had to say about the 2012 event this year’s LSIS Annual Governance Conference has the theme of ‘Impact in a New Era’, and will explore how governors ensure their governance is having an impact.
Last year’s attendees indicated that there were a number of issues about which they wanted to learn more. Therefore delegates at this year’s conference, the sixth LSIS has organised, will have the chance to find out how other governors, clerks and colleges are using governance in response to the changing Further Education (FE) landscape. They will be able to find out about new tools to help them perform their roles more efficiently, and they will have opportunities for professional development and networking.
Taking place on 14 and 15 March, the event will be held at the Palace Hotel, Manchester. This year the conference will have three areas of focus, which are:
• Sharing practice and the tools of good governance
• Ofsted's emphasis on teaching and learning
• Engaging governors and clerks in developing practice in this new era.
Over 25 college boards will share case studies and practice to stimulate discussion and learning. The roles of governance and exemplary leadership and management have been acknowledged as critical to the future of the FE and Skills sector, and the annual conference is an example of LSIS’s on-going commitment to this.
