CBI comments on Scotland analysis paper

The CBI commented on a report published by the Department for Business on Scotland’s place in the UK and how that would be affected by independence – Scotland analysis: Business and microeconomic framework.

John Cridland, CBI Director-General, said:
“The UK is an extremely powerful single market benefiting firms both sides of the border thanks to the free movement of goods, services, capital and people.

“Scottish independence risks hampering this - businesses could have to deal with different regulations and currencies, for example, which would inevitably have a negative economic impact.

“The business and growth advantages are clear – the countries which make up the UK are better together.”
