Wales’s Wonders of Heritage take pride of place on the WWW
In addition to the website itself, Cadw is also launching its dedicated bilingual Twitter (cadwwales/ cadwcymru), Facebook (cadwwales), Youtube (cadwwales) and Flickr accounts. These will help to reach out to a wider local and global audience so that people get the most-up-to-date Cadw news instantly.
The website also tells visitors how to download the Cadw app – the first to be developed by the Welsh Government - which can be used to locate your nearest Cadw site as well as providing opening times, prices and events information.
The new bilingual site on www.cadw.wales.gov.uk or www.cadw.cymru.gov.uk provides an interactive one-stop shop for dedicated information about Cadw’s activities. Split into three main sections for easy navigation, the site includes conservation advice, grants information, events, news, membership, publications, educational resources and inspiration for visiting its historic sites.
Using Cadw’s eye-catching photography, the website has a dedicated Days Out section which is searchable either from a map or by monument names. The site also includes the ability to search through Cadw’s varied events programme by date, performance, venue or keyword. Visitors will also be able to shop online for Cadw guidebooks and other publications in the Cadw Shop.
Huw Lewis, Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage, said:
“Cadw’s new website is a breath of fresh air and has been designed from top to bottom with the user in mind. It reflects Cadw’s commitment to inform and enthuse audiences, both old and new, about everything and anything relating to Wales’s wonderful heritage in its care.
“The result is a fresh and contemporary site and with the introduction of the new social media channels and online shop I’m sure it will become the leading online resource for anyone interested in the latest information on the unique historic environment of Wales.“
