Our latest recession report to the Secretary of State: Rural Housing
We've submitted the 9th of our regular reports to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the rural impacts of the recession. Our briefings help inform his contribution to the National Economic Council, which meets to consider impacts of the recession and recovery measures.
This report examines how rural housing is being affected by the recession, and makes suggestions for actions including:
-
Government ensure that grant levels for rural housing stay at current levels for the remainder of the HCA 2009/2010 and 2010/11 programme
-
HCA change the funding criteria for the second round of the Kickstart programme to ensure that its access for rural areas is significantly improved
-
HCA provide ring fencing for rural areas to ensure equitable take up in this second phase of the Kickstart programme
