The proposals that will be discussed
The FSA published a number of proposals in January, ranging from a ban on sales through to opening up the market and allowing sales from retail outlets. The current controls have been reviewed by the FSA to make sure they are clear, consistent and control the public health risks associated with raw milk. The review took into account stakeholder and consumer views on raw milk consumption and production practices to ensure that the controls are proportionate to the risk and reflect the changing market.
All of the options and the wider issues around consumer risk and consumer choice will be discussed at the event. Speakers will include representatives from the raw milk industry, consumers, and scientists.
The full consultation on the proposals can be found via the links towards the bottom of this page.
