LAND DATA AWARDS TEN YEAR NLIS CHANNEL LICENSE TO THAMES WATER
Land Data, the NLIS regulator, yesterday announced Thames Water, the UK’s largest water and sewerage company, has been awarded a National Land Information Service channel license enabling the company to provide authoritative electronic land and property searches through NLIS.
Thames Water, which covers London and the Thames Valley, is already active in the conveyancing market. Through its property searches business, Property Insight, the company is the official provider of the CON29DW drainage and water search data across the region. Property Insight, which has been compiling property search data since 2002, now provides more than 300,000 searches per year.
Land Data CEO Jan Boothroyd said: “We are very pleased to have Thames Water on board as an NLIS channel and look forward to working together. As an authoritative supplier of CON29DW drainage and water search data, the company is already focused on supplying reliable and accurate data with rapid response times to the market. There is a natural synergy for Thames Water, who as an existing NLIS data provider, will now become a licensed provider of authoritative Con29R data.”
Jason McKinley, Head of Property Insight, said: “This partnership with NLIS will seriously enhance our reputation for quality and marks us as a significant and long-term player in the provision of all property searches. Acquiring an NLIS channel license is pivotal in supporting our existing searches and providing our customers with a single, reliable place from which to buy quality official searches from across England and Wales.”
Property Insight customers will soon be able to access data from the Hub via the website www.twpropertyinsight.co.uk.

Notes to Editors
Land Data regulates NLIS, which was set up to support local authorities (LAs) and other property information holders in England and Wales in their move from manual to electronic provision of property information services. The NLIS Hub is connected to all local authorities in England and Wales, Land Registry, the Coal Authority and other sources of land and property information. The information is distributed by NLIS Channels to around 15,000 subscribed solicitors and licensed conveyancers. Since it began operation in 2001, more that 17 million searches have been processed by the NLIS Hub. Land Data became a Community Interest Company in January 2006 in recognition of its commitment to making electronic property search information accessible to the general public and thereby improving the home buying process.
