Have your say on protecting the past

Members of the public have only a week left to offer their thoughts about whether historic Welsh battlefields should be protected for future generations.

Cadw, the historic environment service of the Welsh Government, is consulting on whether to establish a Register of Historic Battlefields in Wales and has asked the public to share their suggestions on how this might be achieved.

The register is currently out to public consultation, which is due to close on Friday 10 June.

Wales’ Housing, Regeneration and Heritage Minister Huw Lewis said,

“Historic sites and landmarks are living monuments which allow us to reflect on our past and shape our future. Whether a small-scale site of local interest or larger conflicts of national importance, they have all helped determine who we are today and the Wales that we live in.

“I hope the public will take part in this consultation by sharing their views on the battlefields to protect for future generations.”
