The national launch of Artsbox: a website that allows children and young people to share their Arts Award portfolios

Trinity College London has announced the national rollout of Artsbox, a brand new digital portfolio space for Arts Award.

Artsbox enables children and young people working towards an Arts Award to create an online portfolio and to share their creative work and experiences with their Arts Award adviser, friends and others in their Arts Award centre.

It’s free to use and makes collecting evidence for Arts Award easy and fun.  Young people can upload video, audio, photographs and documents onto Artsbox to showcase their creative work and a linked app means they can collate and share on the move, too.

Arts Award advisers can share ideas with individuals or groups, feedback, track progress and assess work online with Artsbox.

Artsbox has also been nominated for an Education Innovation Award and is one of the finalists selected by a panel of industry experts. The winner of the awards will be announced at the Education Innovation Conference taking place in Manchester on 27 and 28 February 2014.

Artsbox has been developed with and tested by 500 young people from 25 Arts Award centres during autumn 2013 ready for its national rollout this week.

Sandra Manson, Youth Media Co-ordinator, who was involved in testing Artsbox said:
‘If only all digital tools were as accessible and easy to use as Artsbox.  I can’t wait to start using it with our young people.  Artsbox will transform the way I can support them. It saves space as well as time.'

The young people involved in helping to develop the design and functionality of Artsbox said:

‘Artsbox is fantastic. It is a really meaningful way of sharing my films and artwork’ (Eliot, age 14)

‘I couldn’t believe it was really our design on the screen, looking so professional and fantastic.  I’m looking forward to doing some more art to fill my Artsbox now!’ (Ada, age 7)

Artsbox has been developed by Trinity College London for Arts Award, a range of unique qualifications in the arts for young people aged up to 25.  It’s funded by Arts Council England and the Department of Education and has been developed and tested by leading social learning specialists Makewaves with brand and visual design by digital agency Hot Pepper Design
