Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone is expanded

The Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone is to be expanded to allow more local business to benefit from Enterprise Zone status and increase the potential to attract more inward investment.

The changes to the Enterprise Zone boundaries were recommended to Economy Minister Edwina Hart by the Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone board.

Four expansions to the boundaries of the Zone have been approved:

  • extension of the Haverfordwest Airport boundary to include the whole of the Withybush Industrial Estate;
  • extension of the Pembrokeshire Science and Technology Park, Waterloo and London Road boundary into the industrial area bounded by London Road and Ferry Lane;
  • extension of the Waterston and Blackbridge site boundaries to include two adjoining areas of land (Waterston Industrial Estate and “Daffodil Fields” to the east of Hazelback Road);
  • extension of the RWE Power Station and Valero Refinery Site.

Announcing the changes, Mrs Hart said:

“These extensions will allow more local businesses to access the benefits of being in the Enterprise Zone, such as the Enterprise Zone Business Rate Scheme. It will also provide more opportunities for inward investment in the Enterprise Zone.”

Chair of the Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone Nick Bourne welcomed the announcement. He said:

“The board is very pleased that the Minister has approved the recommendations to expand the boundaries of the Zone. This is an important step forward for the Enterprise Zone and vital for its long term success.”
