Real help for over 60s

When times are tough it is important people know where to turn to get all the help and advice they need during an economic downturn. That is why the Government has today launched a booklet for pensioners and those over 60 that pulls together all the help that it available to them in one place.

The 40-page booklet “Real Help Now for over 60s” provides information on everything you need to know about claiming Pension Credit, getting help with your fuel bills, or even information on  that course on IT you’ve always wanted to take. If you, a friend or family member want to see all the help available to you and how you can get it, go to www.realhelpnow.gov.uk

Launching the booklet in Newcastle today, Minister for Pensions and the Ageing Society, Angela Eagle MP said:

“Those over 60, especially those on a low income, can feel particularly vulnerable during economic downturns.

“The Government is already providing real help to pensioners through increased pensions and help with fuel bills. This booklet gives them all the advice they need to get the help they need.”

“Pension credit is one of the ways the Government is helping the poorest pensioners, and earlier this year we increased it by the largest amount since it was introduced. I urge people to get all the help available to them by making sure they are getting benefits, like pension credit, they are entitled to.”

The booklet includes all of the information those over 60 need in one place, including:
