Government needs to slow down GP reforms, warns leading think tank
The Government should reduce the pace of its health reforms to ensure that GPs feel comfortable in their new role, according to leading think tank, Policy Exchange. A new report, ‘Implementing GP Commissioning’, published today, suggests that the Health and Social Care Bill’s proposals to abolish every Primary Care Trust (PCT) by 2013 could lead to the new structure replicating the existing system in all but name. The report says that by slowing down the proposed reforms, the potential to deliver real and lasting transformation in the NHS is enormous.
