Laptop bag that doubles as mobile workstation
A Neath inventor, who travels extensively around the world on business and pleasure, has designed a laptop bag that converts into a mobile workstation.
Ceri Davies has spent the past few years refining and developing the Laptek Total Workstation – a multi function laptop bag which he describes as an ‘on the move solution’ for laptop users.
It will be one of a number of inventions from Wales that will be promoted by the Welsh Assembly Government at the International Exhibition of Inventors at Geneva (April 21-25) this year.
It is anticipated it will be a record year for the event attracting 800 exhibitors from around the world. The inventors have been supported by the Wales Innovators Network, an EU funded service from the Assembly Government designed to help budding entrepreneurs and inventors turn their good ideas into commercial propositions.
Ceri will be launching the Laptek range at the show and looking for licensing, partnership, distribution and marketing opportunities.
From the outside the Laptek workstation looks like an ordinary laptop bag but when opened it has a number of novel and innovative features.
These include a stable base plate to improve laptop stability that can be used independently from the bag. A retractable dual handed mouse mat is incorporated into the bag which also has a built-in wrist support and full peripheral access to any computer ports if required.
The Laptek range, which comes in two different styles, has been ergonomically designed for ease of use and comfort.
One design is targeted at the ‘student /everyday user’ markets with features that include a CD holder and an A4 sized external pocket that can be removed and used separately as a backpack, shoulder bag or handbag. The other design is targeted for the more stylish and professional market.
Wishing all the inventors good luck in Geneva, Lesley Griffiths, Deputy Minister for Science, Innovation and Skills, said the range of innovative products from Welsh inventors and entrepreneurs was very impressive.
“In the current economic climate it is more important than ever that we help businesses and innovators to develop the new products and processes that Wales will need to be competitive in the future.
“The Wales Innovators Network is part of a package of Business Innovation support available to help businesses and individuals in Wales become more innovative. I am pleased to see that so many have benefited from the expertise and advice that is available.”
As well as exhibiting Welsh inventions at Geneva, the Assembly Government is also promoting a range of other projects it has supported.
A touch-screen information point will provide details on opportunities available in Wales for buyers, sellers, distributors, manufacturing, licenses, collaboration and much more.
