Learn my way goes touch screen!
Every so often there seems to be one big step up in technology that changes how we interact with computers and the internet, and often how we interact with each other and the world around us. The last few years has seen the popularity of tablet computers go through the roof, and these touchscreen devices have brought many benefits.
With the lack of a mouse making navigation easier for people with hand mobility issues, to the convenience of being able to carry the internet - as well as your music collection, family photos and favourite games (Angry Birds anyone?) - in a handbag or briefcase, there’s no denying they’re only going to become more popular in coming years.
We know that more and more of our centres are now using tablets to help their learners get to grips with the benefits the internet can bring. That’s why the technical boffins here at OCF (Online Centres Foundation, the organisation running UK online centres) have been working extra hard to make sure that courses on the Learn my way website are optimised to run on these devices.
This week sees the launch of the first touchscreen course, Make Money Work. In it’s original guise it was launched in May last year, and it’s proved to be one of our most popular courses - a great guide to help learners make the most of their money and plan for their future. We’re very happy those who need that bit of extra help with their finances, can now access Make Money Work using phones or tablets too.
It’s also a great chance for centres to get out and about with their own tablets and phones and show even more people - for instance, as part of our Start something campaign - what they could be doing online.
More courses will be available in this new format (HTML5 for the technically minded out there) in the coming weeks so keep an eye on these news pages and in our weekly newsletters for further details.
