Annual report and accounts 2010-11 published

The eighth annual report and accounts for The National Archives is now available. In our annual report we describe our performance over the past year and explain how we used the funds allocated to us. To complement the report, some members of our staff have created a short film reflecting on our work during 2010-11.*

Our achievements during 2010-11 include making significant improvements to our reading rooms and to the experience of people visiting Kew, and receiving recognition of the quality of our public services through the award of the government's standard for Customer Service Excellence.

We have also:

  • launched the Open Government Licence, making it faster and easier than ever before for the public, companies, charities and other groups to re-use public sector information
  • delivered legislation.gov.uk - a new integrated online service providing free access to all UK legislation and the first service of its kind in the world
  • promoted our collection to new and more diverse audiences, such as through our groundbreaking 'Africa through a lens' project, using flickr.com and targeted outreach work to make thousands of images from our collection more widely available
  • expanded the UK Government Web Archive - we have now archived more than 2,000 websites and the archive regularly receives more than 100 million hits a month
