British Invention: Global Impact: BIS response to Witty
The Government's response to the Witty Review shines a spotlight on the role of universities as anchors of local and national growth.
We welcome the Government's commitment to long-term support of knowledge exchange. The response also gives us exciting new challenges - accelerating effective links between small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and higher education, deepening HE-Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) relationships and expanding the university contribution to international innovation.
Partnership will be at the heart of our efforts - centrally with the diverse and rich range of HE institutions which all contribute to growth. As well as our established HE, research and innovation partners, we look forward to new links with UK Trade and Investment and - with the new Smart Specialisation Advisory Hub and the National Centre for Universities and Business - with LEPs and businesses.
