Human Rights & Democracy Programme: Financial Year 2014/2015
British Embassy is inviting proposals for project funding in Turkmenistan
Programme Aim - Human rights, democracy and the rule of law are at the heart of HMG’s foreign policy. The HRDP is dedicated to supporting human rights and democracy work overseas and aims to make a difference to people’s lives, helping to build the capacity of governments and civil society to promote and protect human rights.
The 2014/15 programme will focus on the following thematic areas:
- global torture prevention
- abolition of the death penalty
- promotion and protection of freedom of expression
- upholding freedom of religion and belief
- women’s rights
- business and human rights
- strengthening democratic processes
- preventing sexual violence in conflict

Role of the Embassy
The British Embassy has a key role in proposing suitable projects. Potential applicants are encouraged to consult with Embassy Project Officer to prepare proposals that support the above mentioned priority areas. Proposals must be submitted to the British Embassy, who in turn will recommend the best project proposals to the HR&D programme team in London.
The deadline for submitting project bids to the British Embassy is 28 March 2014 . Projects should begin work in June 2014 and be completed by the end of February 2015 to ensure that all monies are spent during the FY.
