CBI COMMENTS ON CHIEF NUCLEAR INSPECTOR’S REPORT
The CBI yesterday commented on the Chief Nuclear Inspector’s interim analysis of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, and its implications for the UK nuclear industry.
Dr Neil Bentley, CBI Deputy Director-General, said:
“The recommendations in this report will only serve to strengthen the UK’s nuclear safety record, which is one of the best in the world. Nuclear power must play a crucial role in our future energy mix.
“The Government should press ahead with plans for new nuclear if we are to ensure investment in a secure, low-carbon energy supply.”
