Give your views on sentencing
There’s just 23 days left to respond to the Government’s Green Paper on sentencing and rehabilitation of offenders and to give your views on how justice should be delivered.
The 'Breaking the Cycle' Green Paper sets out plans to cut crime, create safer communities and ensure there are fewer victims. It proposes measures to break the destructive cycle of crime by locking up serious and violent offenders, making prisons places of hard work, introducing more robust, immediate and constructive community sentences, getting prisoners off drugs and improving rehabilitation by opening it up to innovation from the private and charitable sectors.
The consultation runs until 4 March 2011 and seeks the views of the public, victims, service providers, stakeholders and organisations with an interest in reforming justice and making a real difference.
Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke says:
'We are keen to ensure that the consultation on our proposals is comprehensive and inclusive and we urge you to contribute your ideas.'
