Foreign Office to use new Twitter Alerts Service to help get vital information to British nationals abroad during a crisis.
Yesterday Twitter launched their new alert system in the UK. The Foreign Office has joined UK police and emergency services in signing up to the new alert service that will help get correct and up to date emergency information to British Nationals who are caught up in crisis situations overseas.
Twitter users will be able to go directly to the Foreign Office travel advice alerts service set up page to subscribe to Foreign Office travel notifications. Foreign Office emergency tweets will be highlighted with an orange bell on users twitter feeds and those who sign up to the service will be sent a SMS notification to their phone.
