Street parties without red tape
With the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games approaching fast, it’s street party time again. The Food Standards Agency has produced some common-sense guidance to help things run smoothly and safely.
Some people are under the mistaken impression that organising neighbourhood parties requires more red tape that it would take to tie up 100 sandwich boxes. That’s not the case.
The FSA advice answers some commonly asked questions. It points out that one-off street parties and events require neither food hygiene certificates nor the formation of food businesses. It also explains where to get more information about good food hygiene practices.
The guidance is available at the link below.
