Specialist members sought for the ACMSF
The Food Standards Agency Chair Tim Bennett invites applications for two new specialist committee members. The posts for an expert in microbiological risks and food processing and a veterinarian will become vacant from Tuesday 1 April 2014. The Advisory Committee on the Microbiological Safety of Food (ACMSF) is the independent expert committee, which advises the FSA on microbiological food safety.
Committee members are not paid. They receive remuneration for attendance at meetings and reimbursement of reasonable expenses.
About the vacancies
The vacancies are for an individual with expertise in assessing microbiological risks associated with food processing, and a veterinarian with veterinary public health experience. Applicants should have a proven academic or professional track record of expertise and should be educated to degree level in a relevant scientific discipline.
Applicants should have the ability to work in a team environment and possess strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills. They should be able to demonstrate sound judgement in dealing with complex scientific and technical issues, with the ability to weigh issues outside their own specialist area.
