Crossrail competition open
Londoners now have the opportunity to help name the last two tunnelling machines that will bore below the Capital to create Crossrail.
Continuing the tradition of using female names, Crossrail are looking for inspirational figures to fit the theme of 'modern-day heroes'.
The last two machines will bore from Pudding Mill Lane, near the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stratford, creating 2.7km of tunnels to Stepney Green.
The tunnel will link the surface railway from Shenfield in Essex, through Stratford and into the central London section of the Crossrail route.
