CBI comments on day one referral of ex-offenders onto the Work Programme
The CBI commented on the launch of greater employment support for ex-offenders, with referral onto the Work Programme on day one of release.
Matthew Fell, CBI Director, Public Services Reform, said:
“Supporting ex-offenders back into the workplace by referring them onto the Work Programme from day one of their release will help ease the transition from prison life. All the evidence shows that ex-offenders are less likely to re-offend if they find employment.
“In the past, government has not been joined-up enough when it comes to coordinating support for ex-offenders, so today’s launch represents a positive step forward.
“The DWP and MoJ must continue to work closely together, alongside other relevant Whitehall departments, local government and providers to ensure all ex-offenders get the high quality support they need.”
