Monitor appoints Improvement Director at Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust
Mark Davies, former CEO of Imperial College Healthcare and Hammersmith and St Mary's Hospitals, has been appointed to the role of Improvement Director at Colchester Hospital by health sector regulator Monitor.
As Improvement Director, he will be employed by and accountable to the regulator. In addition to providing support to the trust, which was put into special measures last November, Mark will hold the trust accountable for making the progress towards securing good quality care.
Mark Davies has 24 years NHS leadership experience and has been the CEO in seven NHS trusts, most recently at Imperial College Healthcare. He will monitor progress at the trust, reporting directly to Monitor.
Adam Cayley, Regional Director at Monitor said:
"Mark Davies brings extensive NHS experience to this role, in particular a track record of successfully leading some of the most challenged organisations in England."
Monitor continues to work with other partners, such as NHS England and the Care Quality Commission, to ensure the trust rapidly returns to offering good quality care for all patients.
