CWDC - Second intake announced for New Leaders in Early Years Programme
The second intake of graduates are now being recruited to CWDC’s pioneering New Leaders in Early Years programme. Apply now to start the programme in February 2011.
The course, run in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University in Kent, aims to develop a new generation of early years graduate leaders. Students must have at least a 2.1 honours degree and a high level of early years knowledge and skills.
They must also demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving the best for young children, and the capability to become outstanding leaders in the early years sector.
The two-year programme provides intensive mentoring and support, with a strong emphasis on progression in the sector and impact particularly in areas of disadvantage.
Students will undertake extensive placements in early years settings, including childminder roles, and complete the early years professional status (EYPS).
Thom Crabbe, National Manager for Early Years, recently met the first intake who started the programme in November. He said: “I was so pleased to meet such an interested, insightful and intelligent group with aptitude and attitude to be excellent early years leaders.
“They range in age from 22- 52, and include four men and at least four from a BME background – two groups we are keen to encourage into early years professions.
“They had various backgrounds, and between them boasted degrees in German and business, law, psychology, youth and community, and theatre design. It’s exactly the sort of mix we are looking for."
