Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) social work programme will transfer to DfE by April 2012

The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed that the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) social work programme will transfer to DfE by April 2012.

Jane Haywood, Chief Executive at CWDC, said

We hope this decision will provide reassurance to our stakeholders about the social work programme continuing beyond March 2012.  We will be working closely with DfE to shape the social work programme for 2012/13 and we intend to support employers throughout the transition process.

"At this stage we do not have any details on the timeframe for the transition, but as soon as we have further information we will share it with our stakeholders.

"The 2011/12 social work programme will continue to be delivered by CWDC. This week CWDC has written to Directors of Children's Services confirming the work and local authority funding allocations for social work improvement funding in 2011/12."
