New government, new ways of working
The management structure of the Executive is to be re-aligned as a new government is formed, Permanent Secretary Sir John Elvidge has told civil servants.
The Cabinet will comprise the First Minister and five Cabinet Secretaries. There will be two Law Officers.
Sir John said the opportunity presented by the formation of a new government meant the Executive's structure could be aligned more closely with the incoming administration's objectives of creating a 'greener, healthier, safer, smarter, and more prosperous Scotland'.
With immediate effect, the Executive's Strategic Board is to consist of the Permanent Secretary and five Directors-General who will lead on one of the government's strategic objectives.
The First Minister and Cabinet Secretaries for Finance and Sustainable Growth, Health and Wellbeing, and Education and Lifelong Learning will each be supported by two Ministers.
The Cabinet Secretaries for Rural Affairs and Justice will each be supported by one Minister.

Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Culture
Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing (also Deputy First Minister)
Minister for Public Health
Minister for Communities and Sport
Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth
Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism
Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change
Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning
Minister for Schools and Skills
Minister for Children and Early Years
Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs
Minister for Environment
Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Communities
Minister for Community Safety
