MPA Statement: Action following Commander Dizaei verdict

MPA Statement: Action following Commander Dizaei verdict

News Release issued by the COI News Distribution Service on 10 February 2010

Metropolitan Police Authority
10/02/10
10/10

That a senior officer of the Met has been found guilty of corruption causes the MPA grave concern.

The Authority’s Professional Standards Cases Sub-committee (PSCSC) is responsible for both senior officer discipline and police pension forfeiture. We take these responsibilities extremely seriously.

The processes to deal with corruption stand as a warning to those who may cross that line, and a reassurance to those who do not, that systems are in place to ensure integrity in the Met. This is non-negotiable.

Following the verdict in the Commander Dizaei case, the IPCC has sent its report to the MPA. The PSCSC will now set in train the appropriate course of actions.

The MPA will move swiftly but fairly, in accordance with the relevant police regulations, to bring this case to a close and help restore public confidence in senior police leaders.
