Further to previous statements and ongoing discussions, QCA has today announced that the National Assessment Agency (NAA) is to take over the management of the reviews process for this year's key stage tests with immediate effect.

Schools that request reviews can be reassured that any material sent will be redirected to NAA.

Individual markers who have been engaged by ETS for the review process will be contacted directly by the NAA within the next few days to make transitional arrangements.

Notes to Editors

1. Throughout the marking period, marking was checked to ensure it meets the national standard. However, if a school believes it has evidence that a misapplication of the mark scheme has resulted in a pupil being awarded an incorrect level, a review may be requested.

2. Where schools were unable to submit review applications before the end of the summer term they should be submitted by 10 September 2008, and at the latest, 10 days after the start of your term, or after receipt of both scripts and results, whichever is the later. It is important that schools wait for both results and a complete set of scripts before applying for a review.

3. Scripts not already with schools will be returned by the beginning of the autumn term, or on 20 and 21 August for those schools that have indicated that they will be open to receive them during the summer break.

4. The review process covers tests at key stages 2 and 3.
