Choosing our Corporate Charity
The Met Office is asking for applications from charities to become our new Corporate Charity for the next three years.
The three year tenure of ShelterBox as our Corporate Charity is due to end in June 2012 so we are beginning the process to choose the next one.
Rob Varley, chairman of the Met Office Sustainability Committee says: "Our relationship with ShelterBox has been really positive. So often its work is linked to weather related disasters so we have been able to help practically with weather forecasts, as well as trying to raise some money for the big green boxes that do so much good just when it's needed most. We hope that we will develop an equally positive relationship with the next charity our staff choose."
If your charity wants to be our nominated charity for three years beginning in July 2012 you will need to complete an online form. The form asks for information on the aims and values of your charity together with a case (max 500 words) showing why you think there will be mutual benefits in us working together.
The deadline for nominations will be 4 May 2012. We will choose a shortlist soon after that. Met Office staff will then vote to decide which of the short-listed charities will become the nominated charity.
Please bear in mind that your charity must demonstrate an affinity with our work and sustainability commitment. We also expect your charity to have a national or international presence or reach.
If you have any queries regarding the process, please e-mail our sustainability team.
