Bursary to support student research on sustainability

A bursary to promote research into sustainability was announced by the Minister for Environment, Sustainability and Housing Jane Davidson today (25 July).

A total of £105,000 will be provided over three years to fund the programme from 2008-11.

Ms Davidson said:

Wales is one of the few administrations in the world with sustainable development as a founding principle.

Our Sustainable Development Scheme is currently being revised and a key part of this will focus on our efforts to raise awareness, know-how and skills around sustainability issues in Wales.

The bursary - £35,000 a year until 2011 – will support research on strategically important areas of sustainability in Wales.

The aim of the bursary is to increase specialist knowledge on sustainability issued in Wales and also enable the production of high quality research on key sustainability issues.
