CBI responds to PAC report on the introduction of the Work Programme
The CBI responded to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on the introduction of the Work Programme.
Matthew Fell, CBI Director for Public Services, said
“As the PAC recognises, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) moved quickly to introduce the Work Programme. While there is more work to do to ensure the programme realises its potential, the major advantage of the scheme for the taxpayer is that providers are only paid for the results they deliver.
“In the future, Work Programme providers and public sector organisations must work together to join-up services for jobseekers and align the scheme with the broader growth agenda. As the PAC highlights, it’s important that DWP clearly sets out how the Work Programme will interact with the Universal Credit scheme, so that providers can prepare for its introduction.”
