Donegal Catch fish fillets withdrawn in Northern Ireland
Due to a packaging error, some Donegal Catch Limited Edition Fish Fillets in a golden breadcrumb have been packed with battered fish fillets instead of breadcrumbed fish fillets. Battered fish fillets contain milk, which is not an ingredient in the breaded fillets, and is not labelled on the packets.
As a result, the product presents a possible health risk for people who have an allergy or intolerance to milk. The Agency is issuing an allergy alert.
Product affected
The withdrawn product is:
- Donegal Catch Limited Edition Fish Fillets in a golden breadcrumb: 2 Fillets 200g packs
- Best before end: September 2012, Batch Code - L 1 066
This product has been on sale since the end of March 2011. (Both battered and breaded fish contain the allergens wheat gluten, mustard and fish, Alaskan pollock, which are declared on the label.) Small quantities of the implicated batch were distributed to Tesco in Northern Ireland. The affected products have been withdrawn from sale. Anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or its constituents is advised not to eat this product.
No other Donegal Catch Products are known to be affected.
