Becta’s further education technology functions are alive and well – LSIS picks up the baton.
February saw the transfer of four of the key products from Becta’s learning and skills portfolio, to LSIS.
These are:
• Generator - e maturity tool;
• The Technology Exemplar Network; and
• The e-leadership online module.
In addition, LSIS will be building on Becta's research in the FE sector.
This transfer offers real value and expertise to support learning and skills professionals. Becta and LSIS have had a close and effective working partnership and the fact that the work is continuing is a positive testament to that relationship.
The Becta functions have a close fit with existing LSIS programmes especially its e-support services including:
• eCPD programme which ensures the effective use of organisational approaches to technology and includes, E-Guides, who are trained to teach and support the use e-learning and technologies;
• the Leadership Toolkits (for Work Based Learning, Adult & Community Learning, Independent Specialist Colleges and Offender Learning) and
• the Leadership of Technology programme which explores and develops strategies for judging the impact of technology on learning, learners and business processes.
We’ll keep you in touch with any developments of these functions and their integration with the current LSIS portofolio via the LSIS website and the Excellence Gateway.
