We publish Supporting growth in the arts economy

The Arts Council has published Supporting growth in the arts economy, a think piece by Tom Fleming Creative Consultancy which will inform our policy around the arts and the creative economy.

Within the series of three papers, Tom Fleming and Andrew Erskine illustrate synergies between the arts and the creative economy and discuss suggestions for the Arts Council's approach. The Arts Council aims to sustain and exploit links between the arts and the creative industries, in line with the five goals in our strategic framework Achieving great art for everyone.

Our policy around the arts and creative economy aims to:

  • develop a sustainable and resilient arts sector
  • help arts organisations to generate income from new and different sources
  • identify areas where arts contribute to the wider economy
  • encourage the use of digital technology to reach more people and generate new revenue
