Launch of the second wave of the National Survey of Charities and Social Enterprises
The second wave of the National Survey of Charities and Social Enterprises has been launched today, giving charities, social enterprises and voluntary and community groups in every local authority area an opportunity to have their voices heard.
This largest ever survey on the sector was first run in 2008 and over 49,000 organisations responded giving a wealth of information on the factors supporting organisations’ success, including : opportunities to influence local decisions, the availability and nature of local funding and income, and satisfaction with local support and guidance. This information has proved invaluable to the sector and local statutory bodies in identifying and addressing key local issues, and improving the local environment in which the sector operates.
This second wave of the survey aims to take these results even further – building an accurate picture of the current environment and assessing the progress made since the first wave of the survey – in order to provide citizens, communities and local and national government with the information needed to continue to drive real change in local areas.
Nick Hurd, Minister for Civil Society, said:
“This survey represents a real opportunity for organisations to put their views across on issues that affect them, communicate with local authorities and their partners, and inform and influence national and local policy. I urge all those organisations who receive the survey to respond to ensure their voice is heard.”
Over 110,000 organisations have been selected to take part and response from all sizes and types of organisations is essential to ensure the results build a representative picture of the views of the whole sector, and give information that will carry real weight at the local level. We therefore would encourage all invited organisations to complete the survey by post or online at www.nscsesurvey.com External website by the 27th September 2010.
Full results of the second wave will be published in early 2011 at www.nscsesurvey.com External website
