CBI responds to government statement on energy
The CBI recently responded to Energy and Climate Change Secretary Edward Davey’s statement on energy bills.
Rhian Kelly, CBI Director for Business Environment, said:
“The Government is right to take steps to improve the cost-effectiveness of ECO, but of course there is more detail to work through.
“With prices likely to continue on an upwards trend, we welcome the increased financial support for energy efficiency for new homeowners, which is the best way to manage bills and keep our homes warm.
“It’s also important for the Government to recognise that it’s not just households challenged by rising prices, and we need to see greater support for Energy Intensive Industries. We want to see an extension of the compensation package to 2020 and exemption for Combined Heat and Power from the Carbon Price Floor in the upcoming Autumn Statement.”
