Fast access to evidence
Would you like to find high quality evidenced-based information more quickly and easily? Are you looking for a one-stop resource that collates information from all the best sources - such as Royal Colleges and the BNF?
NHS Evidence is a search engine that provides free access to high quality clinical and non-clinical information, and is available to all GPs and practice workers.
You can use it to help save time and effort in finding the specialised information needed for making evidence-based, cost-effective decisions on patient care.
Simply enter a word or phrase into the search engine and get results from more than 250,000 trusted resources such as the Cochrane Library and the Effects of Treatments (DUETs).
Among the topics you can search are clinical and public health guidance, commissioning guides, and drug and technologies information.
You can also browse the Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP) collection, which provides practical examples of NHS organisations that are cutting costs and improving quality.
Examples include a case study on improving quality outcomes in primary care for patients with atrial fibrillation. This particular case study outlines how primary care trusts in 18 regions used free tools to improve screening by pulse palpation of patients over 65 to improve the detection of atrial fibrillation.
Easy ways of searching
Register with My Evidence to make searching for evidence even easier, and to personalise your space with NHS Evidence.
Through this, you can receive regular news feeds on topic areas relevant to your practice, save search results and receive alerts when new evidence is available on a search you have previously made.
We also recommend you download the NHS Evidence search bar, which will allow you to search NHS Evidence for information from your own practice's intranet.
A mobile version of the site is also available, making it simple to find information while on the move.
