OFGEM PROPOSES CHANGES TO ENFORCEMENT REGIME
Ofgem‟s proposed enforcement vision, published last week, emphasises the energy industry‟s duty to put consumers first, and the role of credible deterrence against compliance failures.
Ofgem‟s new vision is part of the regulator‟s review of the enforcement regime, and is designed to „achieve a culture where businesses put energy consumers first and act in line with their obligations‟. This complements Ofgem‟s Retail Market Reforms, including the new enforceable standards of conduct, which are driving a cultural change towards a fairer energy market for consumers. Details of these standards have also been published today as part of the final retail market review consultation.
