Major change to Socitm Applications Register
A major change in the way data can be updated on the Applications Register will ensure its future as the best source of accurate information about software and services used in local public services.
From September 2013, suppliers may update information about usage of their products and services and have these updates go live immediately, rather than having to wait for changes to be confirmed by their customers.
Previously, supplier updates have not been published until verified by their public sector customers, a process that has caused delays in getting accurate information published on the Register.
The new policy will end these delays and ensure that information about products and services in use is completely up-to-date.
To ensure that appropriate checks and balances are in place around this new development, supplier updates will be marked 'unverified' until customers have checked the changes. Local authorities and other public service organisations may challenge updates published by suppliers on the Applications Register if they believe the information to be incorrect.
