Welsh Government officials have been working closely with Mainetti, a global plastics manufacturing and recycling company which employs just under 300 people in North Wales, to help them find a suitable, permanent site for their operations since a blaze destroyed their facility on Greenfield Business Park, Holywell, last May.

Edwina Hart said:

“I’m very pleased to announce Mainetti has now acquired the former Tetra Pak site in Wrexham, and  is currently moving equipment into the facility and refitting. They also plan to move a distribution facility to Wrexham. This new site not only allows Mainetti to safeguard existing jobs but also to expand in the future creating new opportunities and employment in the Wrexham area.

“This is especially great news for Wrexham, which is still reeling from the recent jobs blows in the area. Mainetti are already in discussions regarding employment opportunities for workers at Sharp who are facing redundancy. We will continue to work with Mainetti and other key employers in Wrexham as well as potential investors to support job creation in the area.”

Mainetti has been operating from a  temporary site at Kinmel Park following the devastating fire and has been actively seeking new premises since.

The site at Wrexham creates a permanent base for the company to operate from and helps to maintain jobs in North Wales where the company has operated for 31years.

Graham Wilson, Production Director at Mainetti, said:

“We are delighted to have identified a site that fully meet the needs of our business, with enough space to allow us to expand as our business grows, while keeping our association with North Wales where we have been present since 1983.”

Mainetti will work with its employees to reduce or eliminate any issues created by the move, and hopes to complete the move in the first half of 2014.
