Next month, 25 poets from across the world will converge on Suffolk for the 23rd annual Aldeburgh Poetry Festival.

Launched in 1989, Aldeburgh Poetry Festival is dedicated to contemporary poetry and attracts large and discerning poetry audiences each year - 50,000 have attended since 1989.

The Festival is the annual showcase of Arts Council England regularly funded organisation The Poetry Trust's year-round programme. This year's festival is also supported by an Arts Council England lottery-funded Grants for the arts award.

Running from 4-6 November, it places special focus on developing new and emerging talent as well as presenting an extensive international programme.

Naomi Jaffa, Director of The Poetry Trust, said: 'Aldeburgh Poetry Festival is famous for the quality, intensity and independence of its programme and the attentiveness and size of the audiences (we recorded 4,200 'bums on seats' last year).'

The full Festival programme comprises 52 events, including 15 free of charge, held in venues across Aldeburgh.  Tickets range from £3-£14 and can be booked online or by phone 01728 687110.

Podcasts of Festival highlights and behind-the-scenes conversations will be available to download from The Poetry Trust's Poetry Channel and are available for syndication. Books by all participating poets available throughout the Festival from Aldeburgh Bookshop.
