CBI Comments on Launch of the Renewable Heat Initiative

The CBI has commented on the launch of the Government’s Renewable Heat Initiative, which will subsidise homeowners and businesses that want to install low-carbon heat technologies.

Rhian Kelly, CBI Director for the Business Environment, said:
“With heat from homes and businesses accounting for half of all energy use, this is a great way to reduce bills and cut emissions.

“Our research shows that three quarters of people don’t consider energy efficiency when they buy a home, so the success of this scheme rests on simplicity and capturing the public’s imagination.

“The Government should also consider other cost-effective ways of reducing heat emissions, including through district heating schemes.”
