CWDC - New limits proposed on the number of migrant workers from outside Europe

The Coalition Government have announced restrictions on the number of workers entering the UK from outside Europe.

How this limit will be implemented is to be agreed following a 12-week government consultation conducted by the UK Border Agency.

There will also be a parallel consultation to be led by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC), the government's independent adviser on migration issues.

This consultation is to be on the levels at which the limits should be set for the first full year of their operation. The MAC will consult on and consider the economic, social and public service impacts of migration in developing its advice.

Skills for Care & Development are coordinating a response from the social work and social care sectors to the MAC to ensure employer views are represented. (Non-UK workers from inside the EEA will not be affected by the new limits.)

We'd like you to tell us about your experience of recruitment and retention of workers as well as your experience of employing workers born outside of the UK.

Complete the questionnaire.

It should only take about 5-10 minutes and we'd appreciate it if you could submit your completed questionnaire by mid-August 2010.

If you are unable to meet this deadline or would prefer to respond to the consultations directly, the questions can be located at:
