Tax authority online advice seminars now available round the clock

News Release issued by the COI News Distribution Service on 11 April 2012

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has made its online tax-help presentations, or webinars, available round the clock.

Previously, customers had to register to watch the live webinars at set times and dates.

The webinars cover many different topics, including:

Business expenses and capital allowances

First steps as an employer

The Construction Industry Scheme

Limited companies, an overview

How VAT works

Colin Ford, head of the project, said:

“The webinars allow businesses and the self-employed to access this information in a lively, interesting format on any day of the year, at any time, day or night.

“Some people find tax issues daunting, especially if they are setting out in business. The webinars are one of the ways that HMRC makes tax as hassle-free as possible. This library of advice complements the guidance that is already available on the HMRC and Business Link websites.”

Find more information and the webinar timetable at www.hmrc.gov.uk/webinars/pre-recorded.htm

The presentations last approximately 30 minutes. Viewers using a PC need the following software to watch the webinars: Windows® 7, Vista, XP, 2003 Server or 2000. Those using a Macintosh need: Mac OS® X 10.4.11 (Tiger®) or newer.
