Iran dismisses post-Fukushima nuclear rethink

The disaster at Japan's Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant has rekindled a worldwide debate on the safety and wisdom of nuclear power.

China
has frozen
approval of all new nuclear power plants, including 27 already under construction – around 40% of the world's planned new reactors. 

Germany has taken seven of its 17 reactors
offline
for at least three months, and other European countries are ordering new safety checks.

Some nations, such as Thailand, are reconsidering plans to introduce nuclear power.

Iran, however, is one nuclear newcomer that has not.
